POSTNATAL YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

WORKING WITH POSTNATAL MOTHERS

I provide training to Yoga Teachers who are looking to offer postnatal support, recovery and empowerment for women.

Study with leading professionals

As Co-Director of this 60 hour Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training I am very proud of this informative, sensitive and inspiring training journey that I created together with two other postpartum specialists.

This postnatal training provides an opportunity to study with leading professionals in the field of postnatal support, recovery and empowerment. You will learn to teach a unique form of yoga, rooted in the body's own intelligence, and respectful of the physiology of postpartum recovery and healing.

A unique approach

  • Combining specialist yoga teaching interwoven with postnatal education.

  • The YogaBirth approach to yoga is inspired by the work of Vanda Saravelli - the ideal yoga for postnatal women: gentle yet powerful, working with the breath and with gravity.

  • Attention to natural movement that supports the dynamic structure and state of the postpartum body

  • Through the processes of discussion, experiential work, assignments and yoga practice, students will learn to support and empower postnatal women during early motherhood.

Hello, I’m Ruth

Being a parent is one of the most important things we can do and it isn’t always easy. I have been supporting and empowering women on their motherhood journey for over 30 years.

It is a big passion of mine.

Crossing the threshold into parenthood begins from the moment of conception. When a person steps across that threshold, they embark on what will be a lifelong journey of learning, growth and discovery.

One that will change them forever.

One that will stretch and re organise their sense of themselves, their capacity, cope- ability and capability. Birth is the climax of labour. But looking big picture, it is simply the start of the next unfolding chapter. The postnatal period is a highly sensitive time physiologically, emotionally and spiritually.

It is therefore vital for women to receive appropriate care and support, respectful of this extraordinary time.

It is always a privilege to accompany women on this very personal journey of recovery, healing and growth post birth.

Our unique Teacher Training also incorporates:

  • In-depth study of the physiology of the postpartum period

  • Essential exercises for safe, healthy recovery

  • Awareness of the social, spiritual and emotional experiences women meet when becoming mothers

  • Physical and emotional nurturing for parenthood

  • Breastfeeding

  • Unique teaching skills that embody our person-centred, inclusive approach: enabling us to adapt classes as needed

  • Holding and leading groups where mothers and babies are together

  • The mother - baby dyad

  • Facilitating empowering discussion

  • Awareness and safety issues in yoga

  • Signposting and best practice: for when people need additional support and help

The Yogabirth Postnatal module enables student to become competent postnatal yoga teachers.
