Press Pause. Take Time Out

Let’s be honest—life mostly feels like a juggling act.
One moment you’re wearing your professional hat, firing off emails and racing through deadlines.
The next you’re the parent, the partner, the friend, the carer, the household manager.
Then when you feel most at capacity
Life has a way of throwing in “extra balls“.
You keep up the juggling pace.
And somewhere in there you are also supposed to squeeze in time to exercise.
Time to have a social life.
Time for personal growth.
Maybe even a spot of relaxation.
In the midst of all this busy-ness and doing-ness, the first thing to stop featuring is our SELF!
Rest Isn’t Lazy—it’s Essential
Bodies and minds are not built to run endlessly on overdrive.
Just as a phone battery drains faster when too many apps are open, so our nervous system gets frazzled, overwhelmed and depleted when we don't stop to reset.
So it is foundational to our health and our optimal functioning, to carve out little sanctuaries of STOPPING TIME.
Moments to step back from the noise.
From the demands of our day to day.
Time to just BE.
Refuelling breaks.
To reboot and revitalise.
A loving act of maintain- ance for our whole being.
Somewhere along the line, we absorbed the idea that slowing down is indulgent or lazy.
The truth.
Rest is one of the most powerful things we can gift ourselves.
When we allow our body and mind to unwind, we are not wasting time.
We are recalibrating.
We are restoring.
Movement: the great restorer
Gentle movement practices that invite moving with awareness: that give time and create space to slow down.
Are great restorers.
Designed with exactly this in mind. They don’t ask you to push, sweat, or strain.
They use calming movements, soothing breath-work, and restful postures to send a deep, rhythmic message to your nervous system:
“You are safe.
“You are well supported”.
"You can quieten down and relax now.”
It’s like pressing a reset button.
It shifts attention.
Gradually eases you away from “ fight-or-flight “ mode towards a more natural state of balance and calm presence.
Returning to your day-to-day life feeling more resilient, more creative, more energised.
And with more focus.
It’s not about escaping life—it’s about giving ourselves the fuel we need to truly live LIFE.
And embody who we are in the process.
Nature: The Original Healer
If gentle, person centred somatic movement helps reset the nervous system from the inside.
Time in nature does it from the outside in.
Science backs this up, but honestly, you can feel it without reading a study to prove it.
Step outside.
Breathe in fresh air.
Listen to birdsong.
Watch the gentle, glistening ripple of water.
Watch the sky.
You feel your spirits lift.
You notice how your breath deepens.
How your shoulders drop.
How your thoughts and your heart begin to soften.
There’s something profoundly healing about being around trees, water, and open sky.
It reminds us we are part of something bigger. Something greater..
Something steady and grounding and awesome..
Even when, (or especially when) life feels chaotic, a walk in the woods, dipping your toes into a cool lake, standing barefoot on grass ….
Moments in nature, are a balm.
A tonic.
Nourishment for the soul.
The Magic in Gathering
Not all nourishment comes from solitude.
Some of the deepest replenishment happens when we come together with another.
With others.
As social beings we need connection.
Sharing food around a table, meeting like-minded souls, in a warm, welcoming space.
Conversations that aren't rushed but meander.
Are spirit lifters.
There is an ease that comes from being in a group where all people gather around a shared desire.
Where no one is there to prove anything.
To need to “be” anything.
A group that in an unspoken way just “gets it”.
The comfort in just being there whether you feel like meandering conversation or meandering quiet.
A loving reminder that we are not alone.
And also not alone in feeling stretched thin.
That it is okay—even necessary—to stop.
Step away from all the juggling
And decompress.
To meet and celebrate our humanity and restore us back into the flow of vibrant life..
With this in mind I am thrilled to be holding another Gentle Yoga & Wild Swimming Day Retreat at Limecross Nursery on Sunday September 21st.
A day designed to give each of us exactly what we are craving and longing for.
Gifting yourself a day to pause, recharge, and re-remember what balance feels like.
What YOU feel like.
Why It’s Worth It
It can feel hard to justify taking a whole day “just for you.”
When you nourish yourself, you are of course (first and foremost), honouring and caring for YOU.
AND you are also caring for those around you.
You return to YOUR life more grounded, more patient, more vibrant and with more capacity.
So it is good for everyone.
We all deserve to feel replenished, rather than constantly running on empty?
If you’ve been feeling pulled in a hundred directions, craving a pause, or simply longing for some time in nature, this day is definitely for you.
A chance to switch off from the busyness we all attract.
Befriend your body.
Be tender to your self.
Breathe deeply
ENJOY!
Soak up the beauty of this peaceful, lakeside setting..
Put aside any worries about meeting the grade in any way shape or form.
Say YES to rest,
YES to nature,
YES to connection.
Most of all, say YES to you.
You’ll leave with your shoulders lighter, your heart fuller, and your nervous system in a state of calm balance.
Arrive to a beautiful, tranquil setting surrounded by greenery and the calm waters of a hidden lake.
Grounding, gentle yoga—slow movements, deep easy breaths, and plenty of time to unwind tension. No striving or forcing. You don’t need to be flexible, experienced or even know much or anything about yoga. This is a day about being who you are RIGHT NOW.
Afterward, there’s the chance to dip into the sparkling lake for some invigorating wild swimming (or just a paddle, if you prefer!). Nothing wakes up the senses and recharges your system quite like immersing yourself in cool, fresh water, with the sky above you and nature all around. It is so joyful.
Delicious, nourishing food shared together, prepared with love and care. The kind of food that leaves you feeling satisfied and nurtured.
The rest of the day flows gently between relaxation in the hot tub,, easy conversation and connection, and moments of quiet.
You’ll leave not only calmer and clearer but also with a renewed sense of vitality and joy.
