WHO IS MOSHE FELDENKRAIS?

Updated: Jan 8

Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984) an engineer, physicist, and martial artist.

A pioneer in somatic education, Feldenkrais was ahead of his time when he developed his approach in the 1950s.

A severe knee injury playing football began his experimentation in movement and self - healing.

Rehabilitating his knee led him to explore how the brain changes and relearns movement.

He was a prolific writer and has written many books on somatic education, learning and human behaviour. His first official practitioner training was in the 1970s in Tel Aviv, followed by 2 trainings in the USA.

Dr. Feldenkrais worked with many people with a wide variety of physical problems from children with Cerebral Palsy, people with neurological issues to dancers, sports people and musicians.

The Feldenkrais Method is a powerful, innovative approach to learning. Blending biology, physics, neuroscience, and motor development, it is designed to engage with our brain’s 'neuroplasticity,' (our brain’s awesome ability to change, rewire itself, adapt and repair), to benefit our body and how we move and function in life.

The Feldenkrais Method can improve and inform your performance ability. It is used in conjunction with yoga, pilates, gym workouts, swimming, dancing, athletics, tennis, running, horse riding etc.
